Musk announced the establishment of the "American Party" on social media.
Techub News reports, according to Xinhua News Agency, Elon Musk announced on social media on the 5th local time: "Today, the establishment of the 'American Party' gives you freedom. The support and opposition ratio is 2:1, indicating that you want a new political party, and you will have a new political party." Musk stated that America is "going bankrupt due to waste and corruption." Previously, on Independence Day in the U.S., Musk initiated an online poll asking netizens whether a "American Party" should be established to "liberate" the American people from the two-party system of alternating between the Democratic and Republican parties. By the time he posted again on the 5th, more than 1.249 million netizens had participated in the vote, with supporters accounting for 65.4% and opponents accounting for 34.6%.
According to U.S. law, a qualified political party must undergo a complex certification process to be established. First, a party caucus or convention must be held to elect interim officials and designate the party name. It is unclear whether Musk's "American Party" has initiated the relevant procedures. Musk supports the current president Trump and the Republican Party in the 2024 U.S. election, but has recently had significant disagreements with Trump and has repeatedly claimed he will establish a new party to challenge the political landscape dominated by the two parties.
