Big Update News for the Altcoin Whose Price Plummeted in the Last Year!
Sonic Research, the company behind the Sonic (S) altcoin, has introduced a new consensus protocol called SonicCS 2.0, which aims to increase speed and efficiency in blockchain technologies and is based on DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph).
According to the statement on the company's official blog, SonicCS 2.0 stands out with overlapping selection mechanisms that allow for parallel transaction ordering. Tests conducted revealed that the new protocol operates on average 2 times faster compared to the previous version and reduces memory usage by 68%.
SonicCS 2.0 is built on an innovative DAG architecture that can simultaneously process transaction ordering between blocks. The protocol, which organizes transaction data received by each node into a directed acyclic graph (DAG), determines the transactions to be included in the chain by creating a time sequence through this structure.
In this system, the leader election process called "election" is carried out not separately for each block but in parallel. Thus, the transaction confirmation processes are both accelerated and the processing load on the hardware is reduced.
In the new protocol, voting structures are modeled using 0-1 matrix representations to provide more efficient election calculations. This contributes to achieving high performance with lower resource consumption despite the intensity of the transactions.
SonicCS 2.0 was tested during 200 epochs on the Sonic mainnet (network ). It was reported that this process achieved results that were 2 times faster compared to the previous protocol, while also operating with 68% less memory usage.
The Sonic team announced that the new consensus protocol will be activated in the upcoming Sonic client version to be released in the coming weeks. The developers also stated that a more detailed technical report on SonicCS 2.0 will be shared soon.
The price of S has decreased by 60% in the last year.
