Ripple restarts global expansion, XRP Ledger becomes the underlying network for Dubai's RWA tokenization.
Ripple resumes global expansion in the Middle East, with Dubai becoming a key point for RWA deployment.
After reaching a settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Ripple quickly resumed its global expansion in the Middle East. Dubai has become an important foothold for its plans to tokenize real-world assets (RWA).
Recently, the XRP Ledger has been selected as the underlying network for a blockchain tokenization project in Dubai's real estate sector, showcasing the development potential of Ripple and XRP in government-enterprise cooperation, cross-border settlement, and stablecoin infrastructure, which are gradually becoming the company's business breakthrough directions.
At the same time, a Nasdaq-listed energy company announced the completion of a $121 million private placement financing, planning to transform into a crypto asset reserve strategy centered around XRP. A member of the Saudi royal family led the investment with $100 million, demonstrating the recognition of Middle Eastern capital for the XRP ecosystem.
XRP Ledger Becomes the First Government Property Tokenization Project Public Chain in Dubai
The Dubai Land Department has announced a partnership with an asset tokenization platform to launch the Middle East's first government-led real estate tokenization project, PRYPCO. This project is supported by relevant regulatory authorities in Dubai and plans to achieve on-chain issuance of real estate assets on the XRP Ledger through a specific platform, with a minimum investment threshold of approximately $545.
This is an important component of Dubai's "Real Estate 2033 Strategy," aiming to achieve a real estate tokenization market of approximately $16.3 billion by 2033. The relevant platforms have obtained the necessary licenses and stated that they have completed the tokenization of nearly $295 million in assets.
As a major contributor to XRPL, Ripple has been assigned the role of a technology provider for asset tokenization under government support, demonstrating that the protocol has expanded from cross-border payments to RWA asset support. XRPL uses a consensus algorithm that does not require mining, enabling transaction settlements in seconds.
XRPL is actively promoting the stablecoin ecosystem on the network. Multiple projects have announced that they will launch stablecoins pegged to the Euro and Brazilian Real on XRPL, laying the foundation for a multi-asset, multi-scenario tokenization base.
Middle East Strategy Accelerates: Obtaining Licenses and Acquiring Brokerage Firms
Ripple has long placed great importance on the Middle Eastern market. As early as 2020, the company established a regional headquarters at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Today, the Middle East accounts for about 20% of Ripple's global clients.
In March of this year, Ripple received a regulatory license from the Dubai Financial Services Authority, becoming the first compliant blockchain payment provider in the region. Subsequently, the company partnered with several financial institutions in the UAE to integrate its cross-border payment system into the financial services framework.
In addition to payment services, Ripple is also intensifying its layout in the fields of brokerage, custody, and tokenization. The company announced plans to acquire major brokerage firm Hidden Road for $1.25 billion, aiming to expand the services it provides to institutional investors.
After the acquisition is completed, Ripple will inject a large amount of capital to meet the needs of Hidden Road's prime brokerage business. The broker will integrate Ripple's stablecoin as collateral for its products and explore the use of the XRP Ledger to enhance settlement efficiency.
Can "Tokenization as a Service" Succeed?
Some experts believe that Ripple's strategies are not just a single expansion, but also a forward-looking layout for the integration of DeFi and traditional finance. Ripple is attempting to build a technological layer for the tokenization of global financial assets through the XRP Ledger.
With the regulatory dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission coming to a close, Ripple is quickly redeploying its global strategy by leveraging the Middle East, a regulatory-friendly region. The XRP Ledger, as its technological core, is taking on multiple roles ranging from payment infrastructure and stablecoin settlement to asset tokenization.
If Ripple can successfully promote the "tokenization as a service" model, the Middle East may become an important testing ground for it to escape regulatory shadows, achieve the integration of decentralized finance with traditional finance, and advance asset on-chain.
